How Station 72 Might Have Changed Bucky

First and foremost, being on the Station changed the way Bucky communicates with most of his fellow hosts. The symbiote allows for telepathy and as such, he largely chooses to "talk" with others in this manner. The primary exceptions are during his bad days when he wants people to stay out of his head. For example, when wanting to reach out to Shiro (Voltron), he would tug on their mental link similar to how one would knock on a door.

Additionally, as mentioned in his personality, this link has allowed him to develop a strong sense of empathy. Okay, maybe it's cheating a bit since there's literal telepathy involved, but he's grown to respond to his broodmates (people with symbiotes that are especially close linked) Sam Wilson and Pidge Gunderson, as well as fellow soldier types like Shiro (Voltron) and Shepard (Mass Effect). However, many of the friendships he built were broken down after the death and autopsy of Inquisitor Lavellan (Dragon Age).

One other primary change is that Bucky no longer needs to be wiped to bring out the Soldier. When his symbiote ability is activated (electricity manipulation), it performs a sort of mini-wipe on him that lets the Soldier loose. He and Sam have very recently re-written a chunk of his internal programming in an attempt to keep the Soldier from hurting anyone or running, but whether or not it worked has yet to be seen. For the longest while, however, Bucky isolated himself from the rest of the hosts in an attempt to protect them from the Soldier, as he had no idea what was bringing out the Soldier (negative side effect of his power is that it messes with his memory). He still sees himself as a danger to others, but has started to hope that he will be safer now with the re-writing.
